Moving from Darkness to Light with Yoga

Patricia Walden On-Demand

Recorded: 05/07/2023

In this workshop, “Moving from Darkness to Light with Yoga” recorded on May 7, 2023, Patricia Walden explores how students may apply their yoga practice to help lift the veil on one of the most common aging woes: depression. As we age and difficulties arise in the body, we can enter a state of depression.  Yoga has the tools to help us uplift our heart while lifting our physical thoracic cage and fostering physical and mental wellbeing.  Patricia will show what can be done to bring back a zest for life when one struggles with these feelings. You are invited to join Patricia in this practice and that you, too, will experience the positive changes that yoga can bring to the aging process.

For this workshop, ideally you should have the following props or substitutes available: 2-3 blankets, a bolster, 1-2 belts, 2 cork or wooden blocks, and a chair. Be sure to download the accompanying handout as well.

Guided Meditation

Led by Roni Brissette, this Guided Meditation on Forgiveness, complements the workshop by Patricia Walden. Roni’s study of Mindfulness precedes her 30 years as an Iyengar Yoga teacher. With an emphasis on mindful attention and a path of reflection, Roni invites you to explore this meditation with the spirit of “Make the experiment and see what comes.”
